Digitalisation in rail freight transport
with TAF TSI standards

Interoperability Directive 797/EC/2016

I RAIL will facilitate the implementation of TAF TSI standards in rail freight procedures by Railway Undertakings, Infrastructure Managers and Wagon Keepers, according to the Interoperability Directive 797/EC/2016. I RAIL will also cover the extension of TAF TSI standards to other rail actors involved in intermodal transport.

Safety Management Systems
digitalisation

Safety Directive 798/EC/2016

I RAIL will allow the digitalisation of current manual procedures established by railway undertakings in their Safety Management Systems, with the aim of guaranteeing safety in their operations, complying with Safety Directive 798/EC/2016.

Benefits derived from digitalisation and TAF TSI standards

Improving communications among rail stakeholders in terms of speed and quality.

Ensuring management of railway operations is carried out in a safe way.

Enhancing more efficient processes by better planning in intermodal operations.

Reducing operational costs in each company.

Increasing rail competitiveness. Reducing road congestion by shifting cargoes to rail transport.
